My Coding Essentials

List of Coding Essentials

Before I begin working on any coding project I have to prepare to work hard and be comfortable while doing so. I have read all of the articles about not working in the bedroom because the room is for sleep only. I don’t care. I love my bedroom. The temperature is set at 72 degrees most days. My ceiling fan is set high enough I feel a cool breeze, but low enough to not turn the pages of my notebook. My oil diffuser fills my room with the calming scent of lavender oil. I am usually burning my newest candle find from Marshalls or TJ Maxx.

After my code mood is set, I gather my essentials.

MacBook Pro
I bought the computer refurbished a few years ago. I may love this computer more than my phone.

Evernote
I use Evernote for all of my notes. I currently have 21 notebooks neatly organized on the app. I have notes for JavaScript, HTML, Goals, and much more.

Pandora
Pandora is a must for me when coding. Music helps me relax and focus. My favorites are stations for work are Solange and Classical. Two very different tastes but the work for my mood.

Atom
I have tried a few different text editors but Atom works best for me. Atom provides simplicity. It doesn’t hurt that my pink and purple text looks cool against the dark background.

YouTube
As a visual learner, I learned better from watching and repeating. When I learn a new concept, I try to find a related tutorial on YouTube.

Those are my basics. Let me know what you find helpful when coding.
